Mr. Phillips is an experienced entrepreneur in a wide variety of fields. He has founded and run several companies over the last decade ranging from construction to financial investments.

Prior to joining Virtual Environment “VE” as its COO, Mr. Phillips founded Black Point Investments, LLC which is a real estate holding company that primarily focuses on higher end flips and multi-dwelling rental properties across the United States. The main areas of the company’s holdings are in Southern California and Nashville, Tennessee and continues to span over a variety of other states. Over a four year period it went from one condo in 2014 to now over 10 homes per year.

In 2012, Mr. Phillips started Elegant Home Theaters, LLC. Under the control of Mr. Phillips, EHT was transformed from a couple of “audio video technicians” to a team that was dedicated to custom tailoring their clients’ homes and offices to their unimaginable desires. This business went from hanging TV’s for a couple hundred dollars to doing full home/office projects into the hundreds of thousands.

In 2009, Mr. Phillips started Phillips Investment Enterprises in the depths of “The Great Recession” focusing on property and the stock market. He was in charge of purchasing foreclosed estates in Phoenix, Arizona and surrounding areas. The company also focused on banks and other tech equities that were hit hard during the market crash; Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo Corp (WFC), and Tesla (TSLA) to name a few. This strategy brought large returns and the company value increased by over 500% in three years.

Welch is the founder of Grabit™, now called KERV, a new platform for monetization of video. He conceived, developed, and patented the new interactive Grabit™ pixel recognition technology and has a broad history of original patented technology in broadcasting and OTT.

Mr. Welch created the first live interactivity for TV News and Sports with ScreenWRITER™ and SportsWRITER™. His first clients included ABC News, FOX News, NBC Sunday Night Football, ESPN Monday Night Football (John Madden’s telestrator), BBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, MSNBC, Japan’s NHK, Germany’s WDR, Europe’s SKY Sports, and other broadcasters worldwide.

Mr. Welch was the “fix it” man for Capital Cities and Westinghouse in their acquisition of ABC and CBS respectively. He created the Cap Cities/ABC Video Design Group that saved ABC $2.1 million on graphics expenses the first year. He was part of the management of the ABC TV Stations, which hold the highest audience average and annual net income in the history of television to date.

Introducing the first computer animation to Live special event broadcasts, Mr. Welch created, designed, and implemented graphics for the highest ratings increase year to year ifpr the Academy Awards U.S. audience in television history.

He also created the Group W Video Design Group, which saved $1 million on graphics for CBS/Westinghouse the first year. After the CBS merger, Mr. Welch was charged with innovation for the CBS TV stations division. He conceived, developed, implemented, and patented “Optical Video Mouse” technology, allowing weather talent to interact with graphics Live. He conceived, developed, and implemented the first 10m 3D weather graphic systems for the CBS TV Stations.

He conceived, developed, and implemented the first online and mobile weather delivery system for WCBS-TV in New York and also designed the road map for what is now the centralized graphics center for the NBC TV Stations.

In college, Mr. Welch was awarded the national William Randolph Hearst “Best College Editorial Writer”. Soon after he was also awarded the Broadcast Design Association “Best Design” award for Academy Awards graphics. As a TV reporter/producer for then San Francisco NBC affiliate KRON, he was also awarded the AP California Best TV Investigative award, was awarded three Northern California Investigative Reporting EMMY's, and was awarded a Special EMMY for Newscast Design.
